Last week i had hold of The Raavanan Collector's Edition.. It cost me a fair amount of my pocket money...(200 bucks) , but the purchase was worth it..... When i first ripped the CD and had a peep at the additional five tracks from the soundtrack of the movie i was in awe of what Rahman could deliver when it came to experimental music.... The original six tracks are already much known to the masses.. So lets have a look into the additional tracks..." Naan Varuven" is a complete song.... Let it be the tune or the orchestration or the vocals, A.R.Rahman has knit together a perfect song.... The Piano tune in the middle heavily resembles the tune of "Nee Partha" from Hey Ram... I suppose A.R.Rahman wanted to create something in the line of Nee Partha and has succeed and how, the music is spellbinding.... "Lament of the Leaves" is a slow and soulful piece of music with heavy usage of African instruments and some interesting vocals by Bruno Conn.... "Restless Mystic" is very pleasing to hear even as an individual track.... "Yaaro Evalo" is very very haunting and is heavy..... But my pick of the album has to be the last track "Kalingathu Bharani", a rising chant with amazing beats again African i suppose.... The vocal just inspires and makes you sit up even during sleep........ Amazing Soundtrack from Rahman Sir.....
